Does Rocksmtih Work? Your Damn Straight It Does!

I have been playing Rocksmith 2014 for a year now. I can't get enough of the program. It's simply the most fun and rewarding experience that I have had in years. You may say that I am embellishing, but I am not.  I have been wanting to learn the guitar for years, except with the military, school, moving around, deployments, needing lessons & so on, I could not devote the time and attention necessary to learn anything.  I had to set it aside.  I was not happy, but life goes on.

Much time passes. I am out of the military. I finish college and find myself with ample free time. Wouldn't you know it, Rocksmith 2014 had come out a few months earlier and it promises results like no other. Jerry Cantrell is doing a lengthy and detailed advertisement for them. I love Alice in Chains. OK, I am sold. I buy a new guitar, Rocksmith 2014 and devote myself to a firm 5 day 1.5 hour practice routine for the first 6 months. Here is how I turned out.(Below)
From there. I became obsessed. I could not stop talking about the program or how much fun playing had become for me. Soon, with all of my glowing praise of Rocksmith 2014, I convinced my brother to pick it up. Now he has dusted off his old Dimebag axe and is back to shredding with me on a weekly basis. Guitar is now a firm part of my life and I have Rocksmith 2014 to thank for that. Enough of this gushing though. Let me just point out some of the Best and Worst (If any) things about the game and you can decide for yourself if its right for you.

 Pros
1. The game is super easy to just pick up and play. If you have the game, the Rocksmith cable and a guitar you can play. Simple as that.  Its super intuitive. Just pick it up and play.

2. The learning curve is perfect to keep you playing at your own pace. You will never have to worry about becoming overwhelmed & if your having too much difficulty, the program will teach you exactly what you need to do to fix that.

3. There are a ton of songs and they are still putting stuff out, even on the old consoles! If you love guitar, you are going to find something you like.

4. The game is like a guitar teacher that you can just turn on any time you want. Not only are their actual lessons, but also games that will teach you in a very fun way. This way you can learn difficult techniques, no matter how you want to learn them.

5. There is multiplayer.  If you have another guitar or bass. Both you and your friend can play at the same time. Its really a blast and gives you someone to compete with! There are even head to head point games!

Cons
1. In drop tunings, the program will often not pick up notes. Its annoying, but not game breaking, as you can just turn up the difficulty to reveal all of the notes.

2. There is a session mode where the computer will improvise a backing band based on your playing. I could never get it to sound good with my playing. I usually never use this feature.

3. Cables are EXPENSIVE! If you get this game. Treat the cable well. You can't just throw it around. I had to replace mine and it was $35. Keep that cable safe!

All in all though, I could not see myself without Rocksmith 2014. Its a regular part of my practice routine.  Not only that, its a perfect gauge on how well I am progressing as a player, not only by measuring the mastery of the games songs, but you will also see yourself growing more familiar with your guitar by memorizing fret positions, using your pinky to play songs and so on, all because of the time you are spending with the program. I can not recommend it enough. Its truly one one of my life's only pleasures and continues to be. If you want it, buy it. I am positive you will fall in love.
